If reports from New Delhi are to be believed, Grandhi Mallikarjuna Rao, chairman of the prestigious GMR group of industries, is most likely to be the new chairman of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams trust board.
GMR, who belongs to Vysya community, has been the godfather of Chief Minister K Rosaiah, as he played an instrumental role in the Congress high command continuing him in the CM’s post. And perhaps this is the reason why Rosaiah wants to repay his gratitude by making him the TTD trust board chairman, which has been a long cherished desire of GMR.
In fact, there was a talk that Rosaiah would appoint a specified authority to run the TTD till it steered clear of the allegations of various scandals. There was also a talk that Kurnool MLA T G Venkatesh, who also hails from Vysya community, would be made the TTD chairman. But after GMR expressed his desire, Rosaiah changed his mind and recommended his name to the high command, sources said.
