At the 67th Venice Film Festival held recently, noted director Mani Ratnam was honoured with Jaeger-LeCoultre Glory to the Filmmaker Award. He was presented with a specially engraved Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso timepiece bearing the Mostra's commemorative seal. Incidentally, he is the first Indian filmmaker to have received the coveted award. Sylvester Stallone, Abbas Kiarostami and Takeshi Kitano were the earlier recipients of the award. Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai were conspicuous by their absence, Vikram and Suhasini Maniratnam who had written the dialogues for Raavanan (Villain in Telugu) were present.
